About us
We're a brand beyond description
History of the Empire
It all started back in 1994 with a Jimi Hendrix pencil drawing that my brother drew. We had some experience with silk screening at home, but to get this pencil drawing onto a t-shirt was going to be a bit more difficult. I took a photo copy of the drawing to my high school Graphic Arts class, and the teacher allowed me to use their silk screening press after school hours to print these shirts. We printed 20 shirts, gold printing on black t-shirts. I still have one of them, the others we sold.
Upon attending my first Grateful Dead show, I discovered my love for t-shirts sold on the lot. The ones that parody a song title or lyric with pop culture logos or images. As a kid, collecting Garbage Pail Kids and Wacky Packs, lot t-shirts fit right in to my life.
Rebuilding the Empire
As a Star Wars fan, deadhead and phish head, and dad, I hope that you find a design on Empire Shirts Back that connects with you, a close friend, or a family member. I hope to add more and more designs moving forward as we rebuild the Empire.
